Coming up with fresh and interesting ideas is the hardest part of writing a business blog. After all, we’re only human, and it can feel like everyone else has gotten to the best blog ideas first. This blog post is designed to help you learn how to legitimately and fairly steal existing blog ideas, and recycle them for your own writing. And before you ask… yes, this post was stolen from another blog, courtesy of this post from Daily Blog Tips – but as you’ll see, there’s nothing wrong with that!

4. Use Several Stolen Blog Ideas

Car thieves… or car researchers?

Taking one blog idea is stealing – but taking several is just research! Simply rewriting an existing post is a very bad idea, but there’s nothing wrong with rewriting elements of 5 blog ideas into a single blog post. If the blog ideas are all related, it might be better for your audience to have them combined into one easy-to-read post. In doing so, you create a new ‘overview’-style blog post, and by linking to the original articles, the original authors still benefit.

3. Use Your Own Experience

Chances are that you’re a very different person to the original blog author. You’ll have different opinions, knowledge and beliefs, and your writing style will vary hugely. By drawing on your own personal experience and ideas, you can easily create an entirely original and interesting blog post, using a recycled blog idea. Use your own unique experiences – education, job position, interests and beliefs – and create a new approach to an existing topic.

2. See the Big Picture

Big Picture Metaphor

As we explained in this post, ‘5 Pro Tips for Speed-Writing Daily Blog Posts’, blog posts should always deal with one issue. Otherwise, you can risk overcomplicating your writing, and losing sight of the post’s original purpose. However, some blog authors can take this idea to an extreme, and write extremely specific blog posts – perhaps even too specific. In these cases, there’s nothing wrong with writing your own blog post to better illustrate the blog idea. Explain the background of your blog idea, and illustrate it with a handful of examples.

1. Write a Response to the Original Post

The world of business blogging is full of differing opinions and evolving strategies. Just because someone has written an intelligent and well-thought-out blog post, it doesn’t mean that the original blog idea is actually any good, or even right! If you have a different opinion, share it with your audience. After all, our job is to educate our readers, and showing a balanced argument is an important part of that.
